I HAVE A FIX TO RUN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE (EASY)

I got the game to run successfully. Here is what you need to do:

1. Download SmartSteamEmu from Github it should be "megakarlach/SmartSteamEmu".

scroll down to "SSELauncher comfy edition - Reupload" in bold letters and click on "Download latest working build (with bundled 1.4.3 SSE + LifeSupport)" it will redirect you to another github link.

on the very right side, you will see "History". just above "History" is three large "..." full stops. click on that and you will see "Raw file content" click the top button that says "Download" on the small pop down menu. once it is downloaded move to step 2.
2. unpack everything to the game directory, so that SSELauncher.exe is in the same directory as monster_bullets.exe

3.delete the current steam_api64.dll and change "steam_api64.dll.bak" to "steamapi64.dll", so you're removing the .bak file extension.......... (((you might need to disable "hide extensions for known file types" in file explorer options. to do this, hit Windows + R to bring up the run dialog and type "control folders" then click on "Ok".. once the menu pops up, click on the "view" tab and look for "hide extensions for known file types" make sure that is unticked. hit apply and close.

  1. run SSELauncher.exe, once it pops up, left click and drag monster_bullets.exe to the SSELauncher window where it says "drop your game Exe here" a settings menu will appear. simply look down at "Game AppId = 0" and change it to "Game AppId = 2056090". click save and a new icon will appear on the SSELauncher menu; run that and you are done. Use SSELauncher.exe every time you want to run the game. Enjoy.
Since it is open source code, I doubt any virus engine will block it other than reasons to protect corporate interests at valve.
