For anyone in the future:

If the game keeps closing for you automatically after you run SkyrimVR.exe, try running it but with your VR headset set up and connected to your device. For some reason this worked for me, if I don't have SteamVR opened with everything connected it'll automatically close the game

Also, remember to apply the crack as this one doesn't do it for you. Just go into the VREX folder, copy, and then paste to where the SkyrimVR.exe is

The solution to instant crash after launch is to make sure your Oculus software is running and headset is set up, steam VR is installed and running. I connected my headset, started oculus link, opened my desktop in VR and then launched steam VR, viewed desktop again and then launched SkyrimVR.exe.

Uninstall/delete the game folder and re-install it, and install it again, then copy the contents of the VREX install folder(
steam_api.dll, binkw64.dll, SkyrimVR.CDX, and SkyrimVR.exe) into the main game folder. i was getting that, too. but i did this, and it worked.

The Crack does not work at all, the exe in the crack file says that it is unreadable. tried the other things like using the api from another VR game but doesnt work (I doubt it would have worked without the "crack" installed anyways... please fix?)

UPDATE: Ive found a solution in this thread, copy the steam-api64.dll (or something) from another VR game that works for you (mine was Doom that was working already) if the crack doesnt work for you...... (TKX Scott18490 for the tip)

If you load the .exe and Steam keeps loading just reinstall and fallow these steps.

  1. Mount the .iso
  2. Install the game via the installer.exe file on the .iso
* Make sure to NOT check 'Install Crack'
3) Once install is finished, go back to the .iso and copy everything from the DARKSiDERS directory, EXCEPT the SkyrimVR.exe file, to wherever you installed the game.

So you only take the exe from CRACKED folder? Have you tried to take ALL OF THEM and replace the existing items with it? It should do the trick most of time

For anyone else having problems with the game loading up steam.. I copied the steam_api64.dll from another VR game i downloaded which was The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners and replaced if for the one provided with Skyrim and it worked.. Hope it works for you too

Yes VR is fully 3D; like next level scale. A 5 foot person standing next to you looks like a 5 foot person standing next to you. I just got an Oculus Rift S and love it. $399. Don't expect to be able to get in under that price, but it's worth triple that price.
The rift S is for people who have an IPD of 60-65mm; this is the distance from the center of your left pupil to the center of your right pupil. If you're outside of that range, you will not have a clear experience. 75% of all people fit in that range, so unless you're Andre the Giant or Child Sized you should be good.

Use 7zip or something similar and just unpack the bin file inside the iso manually. Nothing else needed.

If the game starts you in a cave for the main menu etc, it's 1.4. if it doesn't it's an old version.

For anyone having a problem when you install the game and it opens Steam this should help.

  1. Download link
  2. Make Sure you installed the game with the crack
  3. Go to your folder where you installed the game
  4. Delete the file in the folder that is identical to the one you just downloaded
  5. Copy the file you downloaded in to your Skyrim Vr Game folder
  6. Done - this should not open steam when you start the game

This IS still the latest version of the game. Simply look below on HOW I confirm this is the latest version (1.4.15 from August 2018)
Mods work just fine for this game as they are made for the latest version, which was updated last year, and NOT SINCE.

There is a particular mod called "VRIK" which states it will not work on pirated copies. I dont know how that is the case, but they mentioned because it has to be the latest version of the game.
I tried it, my game doesnt work with the mod, either this download isnt the very latest version bethesda released, OR the mod developer intentionally somehow made it not work on a pirated copy.

Once again, this is the latest version of the game. check the change log themselves on steam of bethesda. you'll see they match this version of the game. Some modders can add their own DRM to prevent pirates from using it. Easy enough to do as it would just require a simple check to see if the game was cracked.
It's not impossible for them to do. Google Kladien mods. He is a modder that has done a check for pirated copies before. Got a lot of heat for it because it was seen as malware.

The way the modder worded the whole thing, it sounded like the mod doesn't work with pirated copies and he just wont go out of his way to fix it, rather than intentionally adding something to make it not work with pirated copies.
So im not sure if he intentionally did it, but either way the mod doesn't work. The mod is like the VR Body mod except it has arms that move realistically with yours, very immersive for VR. But it doesn't annoy me enough to want to give Bethesda more of my money.

Still modding this game, it takes a lot more effort than normal skyrim that's for sure. So far so good I think with my mod list but still got some left to go. Spent some time trying to get VRIK running but it simply does not work. Either the game crashes, or, the body is invisible. Don't know if theres a fix for it.
The mod author is a cuck putting DRM in their mod to help greedy bethesda, so sad. But it's not a huge loss.

There shouldn't be any way for it to detect it is a pirated copy though, that point of the crack is to trick it into thinking it is genuine. There must have been a micro update, or maybe it has to do with file structure, but it should be doable.

After looking things over and installing this game. The current version up for download is the latest version. Mods support version 1.4.15 and (as of this point) the latest version is 1.4.15. (checked the exe's properties to confirm it myself)
If you found a version 1.9x... then it's for a different version of Skyrim... Not the VR edition.
Going by the fact you called this one "like 1.3x" shows you did no research on this subject at all...
I am glad I decided to download it and confirm all of this myself as you clearly did not. Hopefully this will help anyone else looking to play the latest version of this game as well.

oh well, thank you for downloading it and checking it, cause i was for a VERY long time waiting for an update link like they always do in every other game i have downloaded from the website, like in fallout 4 VR where they put the update link for the game after several times of asking for it, and turns out they updated skyrim since i dont know when but they did it with a full upload, cause the version a first got from here was 1.3xx and then i downloaded again a few months later and was still 1.3xx then i gave up on asking casue i never saw the update link like the other games, thank you very much for doing it all your self, and it wasnt about not doing a research it was becasue im not used to have whole reupload of the game updated usually we only get an update standalone link below the normal download links and description. BTW i was trying to type 1.4xx but for some reason i miss typed 1.9x instead, i actually knew casue i looked onn the bethesda patch notes website that it was outdated but i guess since i dint want to get a full download to find out it was the saem i had already installed i never checked it again.

  1. Mount the .iso
  2. Install the game via the installer.exe file on the .iso * Make sure to NOT check 'Install Crack'

  3. Once install is finished, go back to the .iso and copy everything from the DARKSiDERS directory, EXCEPT the SkyrimVR.exe file, to wherever you installed the game.
